Zelma Ione Lanier King, 92, of Asheboro, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2019, at Russell's Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Brian Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Zelma was born on May 24, 1927 in Randolph Co., to the now late parents Edgar Ellis Lanier and Lora Mae Williams Lanier. She was retired from Sara Lee after 23 years, was a long time member of Russell's Grove Baptist Church for over 30 years, taught Sunday School, was an officer with the Women's Baptist Missionary and was presently attending Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Edward Harrell King; sisters, Emma Lou Lanier Farlow, Ola Lanier Trogdon; brothers, Wayne Lanier, Clifford Lanier, and Lowell Lanier. Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn King Wooley and husband, Paul, Marie King Callicutt and husband, Gary, all of Asheboro, Treva King McKenzie and husband, Tommy, of Vass; sister, Betty Lanier Hammer; grandchildren, Kendra Wooley Cranford and husband, Bill, Travis McKenzie and wife, Carla, Gina Callicutt Grant and husband, Joshua, Elizabeth Wooley, Tracy Callicutt Johnson and husband, Derrick, Tiffany McKenzie Kramer and husband, Ryan; great grandchildren, Isaac Johnson, Caleb Grant, Eli Johnson, Kenzie Kramer, Aaron Grant, Stella Grant, Luke Kramer, Anna Cranford, and Chase Johnson. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019.
