Winfred "Redbone" Ervin Swaney, 90, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Westchester Manor in High Point.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Lee Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Winfred was born on November 21, 1934, in Randolph County, the son of the late William Swaney and Clara Mae Kindley Swaney. He was a graduate of Farmer High School and retired from Eveready Battery. Winfred served honorably in the US Army. He loved his family and always put his Lord first in his life.
In addition to his parents, Winfred was preceded in death by his son, Mark Eugene Swaney; sisters, Norma Jean Carter and her husband Robert, and Ellen Presnell and her husband Eugene.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Craven Swaney; son, Thomas Swaney and wife Kathy of Asheboro; sister, Carolyn Cox and husband Gary of Sophia; granddaughter, Bridget Tori Swaney of Asheboro; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, at Ridge Funeral Home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
