Winfred Lucas

Winfred Dennis Lucas, 96, of Asheboro, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2022, at Randolph Memorial Park, with Rev. Arnold Luther officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

A native of Randolph County, Mr. Lucas was born on December 18, 1925, to the late Finley Lucas and Evva Vuncannon Lucas. He retired from Kayser-Roth and went to work as a custodian for 10 more years at Southwest Middle School. Mr. Lucas honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a faithful Christian man. Mr. Lucas enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Janie Lucas; infant daughter, Hilda Diane, daughter-in-law, Barbara Luther Lucas; brothers, Eber Lucas and Vernon Lucas.

He is survived by his children, Larry Lucas (Pam), Jerry Lucas, Michael Lucas (Janet); grandchildren, Donald Lucas (Sandra), Bruce Lucas (Kim), Kevin Lucas (Jennifer), Seth Lucas (Annette), Jennifer Wallace (Kelly), Brooke Kidd (Jason), Matthew Lucas; 12 great grandchildren; and best friend "Little Baby".

The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service.
