William A. Varner

Mr. William Abner Varner, 68, of Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, August 24, 2013. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell friends Meeting Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Varner was born January 21, 1945. He was the son of the late Pete Varner and Dora Mae Greene Varner. He was a retired builder. Mr. Varner attended Friendship Baptist Church and was a member of the Concerned Bikers Association. He loved fishing and riding motorcycles. In addition to his parents, Mr. Varner was preceded in death by his son, Todd Varner and his sister, Leona Cagle Mr. Varner is survived by his wife, Carolyn R. Varner, of the home; daughters, Tammy McNeill and husband, Jackie, Karen Garner and husband, David, Kristi Walker and husband, Jimmy, all of Asheboro, NC; sister, Barbara Crotts and husband, Oscar, of Sophia, NC; brother, Jesse Varner and wife, Jackie, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Hannah McNeill, Rachel McNeill, Sara Garner, Will Garner, Brycen Walker, Macy Walker; and great grandchild, Brayton Bowman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home.
