William "Bub" Gordon Pierce, 95, of Sophia passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the home of his daughter. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hugh Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Bub was born on August 23, 1926, in Lee County to the late Brantley and Irma Hinelsey Pierce. He retired from McLean Trucking after 33 years as a truck driver. He was an avid hunter and fisherman but his passion was his family which he loved very much. He loved cross country motorcycle riding and auto body working. He was a multi-tasketer and handy man for everybody. Bub attended South Plainfield Friends Meeting and was a World War II Army veteran. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Hazel Hooker Pierce; granddaughter, Jennifer Pierce Baylor; and great grandchild, Harrison Campbell. He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Pierce Plummer (Michael) of Lexington, Rose Pierce Blackburn (David) of Randleman, Cindy Pierce Cody (Al) of Lexington; son, Johnny Pierce of Sophia; grandchildren, Jonathan Gooch, Amy Stone (Greg), Will Plummer (Rodney), Jeremy Testerman (Andrea), Kevin Blackburn (Katie), Chad Testerman (Sarah), Kristen Marine (Shane Campbell); four step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home.
