William Howard Maness, 77, of Seagrove, died Sunday, June 28, 2020 at his home. William was born on February 6, 1943, in Randolph Co., to the late Howard Maness and Grethel Cole Maness. William was retired from Eveready. Back in the day, he drove race cars on dirt tracks and enjoyed riding horses. Recently he enjoyed farming and watching NASCAR. William enjoyed life and loved to pick and joke with everyone. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and he had a tremendous love for his country and family. He is survived by his sons, William Maness, Chad Maness and wife Morgan all of Gibsonville; sister, Hilda Maness of Wilmington; grandchildren, Cheyenne Maness and Raylan Maness. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2020, at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Maness will lie in state from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet UMC Cemetery Fund, 8102 Erect Road, Seagrove, NC 27341.
