George Wesley Freeman, 84, of Asheboro, died Saturday, February 13, 2021 at his home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Miller and Mr. Raiford Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cross Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on Ridge Funeral Home's official Facebook page. Wesley was born on February 22, 1936, in Randolph County, to the late Neill Bailey Freeman and Ora Jane Richardson Freeman. He was the 12th child out of 13. Wesley graduated from Seagrove High School and married Nellie Gatlin Freeman in 1955. He worked for Klopman Mills, Lamb Heating and Air and as a crane operator for Roy Blacks in High Point. He was also a farmer on Freeman Farm, "The Homeplace". Wesley was a life long member of Center Cross Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Wesley was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Gay Freeman; and great grandson, Garrett Wesley Freeman. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Gatlin Freeman; daughter, Frances Freeman Johnson and husband Doug; sons, Lonnie Wesley Freeman, Thomas Neill Freeman and wife Vicky; sister, Rachel Freeman Smith; brother-in-law, Leslie R. Smith; sister-in-law, Kitty Freeman; grandchildren, Aaron Freeman and wife Stephanie, Travis Freeman, Justin Freeman, Kenzie Freeman, Hannah Freeman, Anna Freeman; great grandchildren, Renae Freeman, Thomas Freeman, Michael Freeman, Andrew Freeman, Hayden Freeman, Wesley Freeman, and Jessie Lee Freeman. Mr. Freeman will lie in repose from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, February, 16, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home.
