Wayne McKinley Overman, 86, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, January 25 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2015, at Back Creek Friends Meeting, Asheboro, NC, with Pastor Jon Reece officiating. Burial will follow in the Friends cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph Co., NC, Mr. Overman was born April 13, 1928, the son of the late Giles and Hazel Williams Overman. He was an avid big game hunter and enjoyed his multiple trips to Northern Canada and Wyoming with his retired friends. He enjoyed wood working and had retired from Union Carbide / Eveready Battery after 29 years of service. He was a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting and loved his church and all of the church's functions. Mr. Overman had served in the US Coast Guard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Overman was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Overman, his sisters, Louise Craven and Emma Jean Paisley Swenson, and his brother, Gilbert Overman. Mr. Overman is survived by his son, Wayne Overman and wife, Dawn, of Asheboro, NC; daughter, Rhonda Odom and husband, Ben, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Brian Moss and wife, Karen, Allison Overman, Taylor Overman; step grandchildren, Tasha Franklin and husband, Mike, Jamie Cox and wife, Ashley, of Asheboro, Devin Cox and wife, Jennifer; great grandchildren, Will Moss, Troy Moss; step great grandchildren, Tanner Franklin, Kaegan Cox, Emma Cox. The family will receive friends following the service at Back Creek Friends Meeting.
