Wayne E. Kennedy

Mr. Wayne Elwood Kennedy, 64, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Maple Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Howard McNeill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Kennedy was born January 5, 1947. He was the son of Colvin Vernon Kennedy, of Franklinville, and the late Connie Ellen Greene Kennedy. He was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Kennedy Barnes. Mr. Kennedy, in addition to his father, is survived by sister, Inez Kennedy Carter, of Franklinville, NC; half sisters, Sabrina Black, of Siler City, NC, Rhonda Mashburn, of Sanford, NC; half brothers, Greg Kennedy, of Siler City, NC, Marty Kennedy, of Arkansas; very special niece, Belinda Barnes Whitlock, and her children, Molly and Sarah; nephew, Sammy Barnes; brother-in-law, Joel Barnes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204, or to the Randolph Cancer Center, Patient Assistance Fund, 373 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bonnie Martin and Hospice of Randolph, and to all the friends and relatives who were always so good to Wayne.
