Wanda Allred Feather

Mrs. Wanda Kay Allred Feather, 70, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024, at Cone Health - Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, where she attended, with Pastor Michael Poindexter officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Feather was born in Randolph Co., NC, on April 30, 1954, the daughter of the late Garland Allred and Clara Whitehead Allred. She was a graduate of Parkland High School in Winston-Salem, and had worked as an assistant editor at Anthology of Poetry. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles but spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, brought her the most joy.

Mrs. Feather was a kind, humble, dedicated and loving person. Her "glass half-full" attitude let her always see the good in others. Not only did her family think she was the "best" mother, they were often told that by others.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Feather was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William "Billy" Feather; brother, Homer Leon Allred, Sr.; sisters, Eva Hughes, Barbara Krauss, and Helen Feather.

Mrs. Feather is survived by her daughter, Amanda Goss (Glenn) of Sophia; son, Adam Feather (Theresa Sharpe) of Seagrove; sisters, Betty Eisenhart of GA, Ruth Davis of Asheboro; brothers, Raymond Allred of GA, Daniel Allred of GA; grandchildren, Kayleigh Feather, Savannah Wilkins, Gage Greene, Cadence Adams, Piper Greene, Abel Greene, Noah Riley, Kendall Goss; several nieces and nephews; and special extended family and friends including Robert Shelnutt of GA, Anthony Thompson of NC; and her loving companion, "Lucy".

The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, prior to the funeral service, and other times at the home of her daughter, 2743 Beckerdite Road, Sophia, NC 27350.
