Walter Lawson

Walter Reid Lawson, 70, of Ramseur, died Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Funeral services will be conducted on at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Shiloh Baptist Church, with Rev. Bruce McLanahan officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Walter was born on June 1, 1950 in Randolph Co., to the late Ralph Coot Lawson and Angie Owens Lawson. He retired from Bossong Hosiery as a truck driver. Walter loved working on old cars, farming and canning vegetables, and working in the yard. He was a jokester and loved his dog, Jack. In addition to his parents, Walter is preceded in death by his brothers, John Lawson, Larry Lawson; and sister, Betty Sue. Surviving are his wife, Teresa Lawson of the home; sisters, Teresa Diane Wall and husband Ed of Sophia, Bernice Phillips, of Sophia, Carol Ferree of Randleman, Maxine Hiatt of GA; brothers, Ralph Harris Lawson and wife Nancy of Ramseur, Michael Lawson and wife Christine of Ramseur, James Lawson and wife Vicky of Ramseur; special niece, Laura Stockwell-Whitt; mother-in-law, Mary Frances Baxley; sister-in-law, Paula Speight and husband Robert; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lawson will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home.
