Walter Junior "JR" Freeman Walter Junior "JR" Freeman, 72, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Science Hill Friends Meeting with Rev. Michael J. Fulp, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Science Hill Cemetery. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Freeman was born April 4, 1943 to the late Walter and Rosa Owens Freeman. He always had a smile on his face and a joke on the end of his tongue. He loved to tell jokes! He was a pleasure to be around, he made everyone feel special. Mr. Freeman loved his family and was so honored to live long enough to have seven great-grandchildren. (Which in his opinion were the most beautiful and sweetest in the world). He was a big UNC Tarheel basketball fan and was retired from Klaussner Furniture! Mr. Freeman was a member of Balfour Baptist Church, but had attended Science Hill Friends Meeting for the last 10 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by four brothers, Darrell Freeman, Ronald "Hook" Freeman, Jerry Freeman, Barney Freeman; and two sisters, Peggy Woodard and Ruby Caviness. Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife, best friend of 55 years and love of his life, Rebecca "Brownie" Freeman; daughter, Tammy Mabe and husband, Jimmy; son, Tim Freeman and wife, Tonia B.;grandchildren, Amber Mabe, James Mabe, Kelli Freeman, Kasey Freeman; great-grandchildren, Alex Ann, Ryan James, Jake Tyler, Liam Elias, Lealand James, Kaiden Koga and Aryella Marie. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Allen of Biscoe, NC; and brothers, Donald "Cotton" Freeman of New London, Griffin Freeman of Asheboro and Jimmy Freeman of Star. The family will recieve friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service at the Science Hill Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Science Hill Friends Building Improvement Fund, 2421 Lassiter Mill Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205 or The Randolph Hospice House, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice House of Randolph County for the love and kindness shown to our family and our Dad through this difficult time.
