Virginia Hodgin

Virginia Souther Carter Hodgin, 91, of Asheboro, died Monday, December 18, 2017 at Randolph Health in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Sunset Avenue Church of God with Pastor Boyd Byerly and Michael Wilhelm officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Born July 17, 1926 in Randolph County, Mrs. Hodgin was the daughter of the late Sanford and Janie Souther. She retired from Acme-McCrary. Mrs. Hodgin was a member of Sunset Avenue Church of God for 66 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Hemphill, Ervin Carter and Dwaine Hodgin; and sisters, Orie Simmons and Rachael Walker. Survivors include her daughter, Darnell Garner and husband, Randall of Denton; sister, Myrtle Westmoreland of Crestview, FL; grandchildren, Sharon Snyder and husband, Joey, Kevin Garner and wife, Christie; and great-grandchildren, Jennifer Snyder, Christopher Snyder; Hannah Garner and Stephen Garner. Mrs. Hodgin will lie in state 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Avenue Church of God, prior to the service.
