Vickie Lynn Allred

Vickie Lynn Allred departed this world to join her Savior on July 23, 2015, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her mother, Louise Allred of Asheboro; brother Ricky Allred, sister-in-law, Sandra, and nephew, John, all of Concord and her fiancé Powell Shelton, Jr., of Stokesdale. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and by a host of wonderful friends, many of whose friendships date back to high school days. Vickie was born in Asheboro on July 21, 1962 to parents J.C. ("Jake") and Louise Allred. Educated in the Asheboro City School and at Randolph Community College, she lived in Asheboro all of her life and worked in human resources for a variety of companies, including Asheboro Hosiery, Miller Desk, LabCorp and, most recently, River Landing at Sandy Ridge. Vickie liked to travel, particularly to the beach – whether on the Carolina coasts or in the Caribbean, in the course of a cruise, and was able to continue to enjoy that pastime until recently. The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. DeQuincy Lewis and the staff at the Randolph Hospital Cancer Center for their fine care, and especially to the nurses, doctors and other staff at the Randolph County Hospice House for ministering to Vickie in her final days. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, in Asheboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009, or to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 2225 S. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27205-7311. Ridge Funeral Home is assisting the family.
