Vernon Trogdon

James Vernon Trogdon, 78, of Asheboro, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Cone Health Green Valley Hospital in Greensboro. A private celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at the home. Vernon was born in Randolph County, on August 22, 1942, to Ted and Lina Trogdon. He graduated from Asheboro High School and Randolph Community College. He married Judy Hill Trogdon, on August 1, 1965. Vernon was employed at Klopman Mills and owner and operator of Trogdon Automotive for 50 years; at which time he retired and passed the business to his grandson, Derek who had worked there with him for 14 years. It is known as Trogdon Automotive L.L.C. at 3396 Buffalo Ford Road. Vernon loved gospel music and sang for 50 years with the Carolinians Gospel group. He sang with many gospel groups since age 14. He enjoyed helping make a lot of car enthusiasts dreams come true. Vernon also had a lot of love for his tractors and equipment. A red 59' Chevrolet Impala holds a special place also in his heart. In addition to his parents, Vernon is preceded in death by his brother, William T. Trogdon; and sister, Irene Vann. The man, the mind, the voice, and the love he leaves behind are his wife of 55 years, Judy Hill Trogdon; children, Nita Y. Bobo (Curt), Stephen Trogdon (Michelle); grandchildren, Heather Joyce (Jessie), Derek Trogdon (Jessica), Nick Trogdon (Lilly), the love of his life, great grandchildren, Cayden Joyce and Darci Trogdon; brother, Bruce Trogdon (Doris); sisters-in-law, Ann Trogdon, and Faye Furr, along with many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, 1928 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27203, or a memorial of your choice.
