Vernie Mcpherson

Verna "Vernie" McPherson, 84, of Archdale, died Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Hospice Home at High Point in High Point. Vernie was born on December 7, 1935 in Randolph Co., to the late Clarence McPherson and Christenia Brown McPherson. He was a carpenter, a chicken farmer and attended Rushwood Church. Vernie enjoyed bluegrass music, was a member of the McPherson Brothers Band. He was also an avid baseball player and deer hunter. In addition to his parents, Mr. McPherson was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce McPherson; son, Monty McPherson; six brothers; and two sisters. Surviving are his daughter, Annette Crotts and husband Greg of Sophia; sisters, Shirley Allred of Climax, Allene McGrady and husband Wayne of Randleman; brother, Jack McPherson and wife Madie of Randleman; granddaughter, Farron Kendrick and husband Jason of Archdale; great granddaughter, Tori Kendrick; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Due to the restrictions on group gatherings, a private service will be held at Rushwood Church, Thursday, March 26, 2020, with Pastor Jason Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Vernie's body will lie in state on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Ridge Funeral Home.
