Verlene Thompson

Verlene Estelle Peele Thompson, 84, of Asheboro, died Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. A private funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Sam Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. The service will be livestreamed on Ridge Funeral Home's Official Facebook Page. Born on November 25, 1936, in Guilford Co., NC; Verlene was the daughter of the late Roy Peele and Virginia Turnbull Peele. She was a homemaker and she retired from CVS. She attended West Asheboro Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Verlene was preceded in death by her husband, Raeford Nelson Thompson; son, Raeford Earl Thompson; and sister, Irene Tyson. Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Kay Sanchez, Virginia T. Hunt and husband Clifford, Kathleen E. Hunter and husband Phil; son, Ronald Wade Thompson and wife Patsy; sister, Jackie Coble; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, including Christopher Thompson, who she helped raise. Mrs. Thompson will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home.
