Vera W. Hudson

Mrs. Vera Odessa Weeks Hudson, 84, of 695 Moore Road, Asheboro, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at the Hinkle Hospice Home, Lexington, NC. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Altavista, VA, with the Rev. Oral Puckett and the Rev. Matt Gunter officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Hurt, VA. A native of Pittsylvania Co., VA, Mrs. Hudson was born August 8, 1925, the daughter of the late Europe and Sally Weeks. She was a homemaker and retired from Aileen's Garments. During World War II, she worked in the civil department at the Quantico Marine Base. She was a member of and taught the Ladies Sunday School Class at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Altavista, VA, member and Sunday School teacher at Altavista Church of God, member and Sunday School teacher at Hurt United Methodist Church, Hurt, VA, and member of West Asheboro Church of God, Asheboro, NC. She was the best mother in the world. She loved her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She loved her church family - they were her life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Trinkle Hudson. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Millner and husband, Wayne, of Mebane, NC, Lori Barker and husband, Jerry, of Asheboro; son, Wendell Hudson and wife, Susie, of Asheboro; sister, Beatrice Aileen Thomas, of Grafton, VA; grandchildren, Kenny Hudson, Lauren Hudson, Eugene Lawrence, Jimmy Lawrence, Connie Langley, Justin Shane Barker, Jason Barker, Jarrod Barker; great grandchildren, Brody Lawrence, Mark Garland, Kelsey Lawrence, Jimmy Ray Lawrence, Jr., Jacob Lawrence, Travis White, Starla White, Jamyn Barker. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6 until 9 pm on Friday, July 16, 2010 and other times at the home.
