Venie Pierce Rich

Mrs. Venie Hazeltine Pierce Rich, 99, of 1312 Old Farmer Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Central Wesleyan Church, 614 Hoover Street, where she was a member, with the Rev. Larry Johnson and the Rev. Arnold Luther officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born in Randolph County, on September 25, 1911, Mrs. Rich was the daughter of the late Edward and Queen Small Pierce. She had worked at Sapona Manufacturing and she kept children at her home. She loved gardening, her flowers, and most especially her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rich was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Rich, brother, Wesley Pierce and sisters, Sallie Hogan and Lillian Murray. Surviving are her daughter, Irene Rich Harrison, of Winston-Salem, son, Edward Rich and wife, Ginny, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Tim Rich, of Asheboro, Robert Harrison and wife, Robin, of Rural Hall, David Harrison, of Carboro, Joel Harrison and wife, Ashley, of Pilot Mountain, Michael Jordan and wife, Krista, of Savannah, GA; nine great grandchildren; and special friends, Walter and Vicki Jackson, of Sophia. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 16 , 2010, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Central Wesleyan Church, P.O.
