Vann Grey Goodman

Mr. Vann Grey Goodman, Sr., 78, of 465 Birchwood Trail, Concord, NC, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Tucker Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tom Cabaniss officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord. A native of Cabarrus County, NC, Mr. Goodman was born September 23, 1935. He was the son of the late Jay Goodman and Antha Vivian Litaker Goodman. He was a graduate of Winecoff High School and attended UNC-Chapel Hill, where he played in the marching band. He was a graduate of Catawba College and served in the US Air Force. He was a member of the Concord Jaycees, Oasis Shriners, and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and he was an avid Carolina sports fan. Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife, Carolyn Helms Goodman, of the home; sons, Vann Grey Goodman, Jr. and wife, Joyce Sloop Goodman, of Winston-Salem, NC, Jay Kirk Goodman and John Griffith, of Asheboro, NC, Gordon Lynn Goodman and wife, Kelly Godwin Goodman, of Kannapolis, NC; and foster daughter, Susan Dillard and husband, Larry Dillard, and their son, Timothy Dillard, all of Savannah, GA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday, July 14, 2014, at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
