Vance B. Patterson

Vance Benton Patterson, 80, of Asheboro, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at Universal Healthcare in Ramseur. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel,with Gary Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. A native of Vance Co., NC, Mr. Patterson was born January 25, 1936, the son of the late Athie and Lucille Patterson. He had worked for the Asheboro Police Department and was retired from the NC Department of Corrections. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Patterson loved sports, especially baseball, and enjoyed umpiring games. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bruce, Larry, Perry, William and Joe Patterson. Mr. Patterson is survived by his daughter, Kaye Brison and husband, Larry, of Georgia; sons, Rick Patterson and wife, Lisa, of Florida, Calvin Patterson and wife, Sandra, of Asheboro, and Pat Patterson of Asheboro; sisters, Joyce Batton, Geraldine Matthews, Ann Denton; brothers, David Patterson, Robert Patterson, Shelton Patterson, J.W. Patterson, Jimmy Patterson and Charles Lee Patterson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Valerie Stover, Keaton Patterson, Brad Patterson, Lyndsie Coon, Justin Donnell, Sarah Donnell, Stacie Sells, Brittany Patterson;, and great-grandchildren, Lincon Stover, Tyler Scoggins and Anderson Sells. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
