Trudy East Painter, 82, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at her home. Graveside services will be conducted 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 4, 2017, at Russell's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Asheboro with Rev. Tim Fonner officiating. A native of Stuart, VA, Mrs. Painter was born July 11, 1935, the daughter of the late James Madison and Hattie Bowman East. She was a member of Russell Grove's Baptist Church and was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a servant's heart, and enjoyed gardening. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Painter was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Lou Cox, Lilly Allred, Treva Greene; brothers, Vestal East, Claude East, Clay East, Don East; and granddaughter, Amy Suzanne Gatlin. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Pershing "Bud" Painter, of the home; daughters, Vickie Gatlin and husband, Ricky, Donna Hayes and husband, Tim, all of Asheboro; grandchildren, Nathan Gatlin, of Seagrove, Nick Gatlin and wife, Wendy, of Randleman, Shaun Hayes and wife, Maria of Asheboro, Zach Hayes and wife, Lindsey, of Matthews; great-grandchildren, Balin Gatlin, Dylan Gatlin, Arthur Hayes, Alexander Hayes and Liam Hayes. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday, August 4, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Russell's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 5118 US Hwy 220 Bus. S., Asheboro, NC 27205.
