Thelma Mcneill

Thelma McNeill, 95, of Asheboro, died Thursday, October 3, 2019, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Pastor Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. A native of Montgomery Co., NC, Mrs. McNeill was born August 21, 1924, the daughter of the late William Roosevelt Green and Rosa Mae Collins Green. She was retired from Acme-McCrary. Thelma attended Crestview Wesleyan Church devoutly for over half of a century. Her life's ministry was music and singing. She served God every Sunday morning and evening, Wednesday nights, Sunday afternoons at nursing homes, and Saturdays at special gospel concerts. She and her husband Raleigh, who preceded her in death, attended thousands of weekly revivals and tent meetings. After Thelma's voice became raspy, she was called into prayer ministry as a prayer warrior. Her claim to fame was knowing and serving Jesus Christ. Thelma also loved teaching children and was a generous giver. Mrs. McNeill was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Green Byrd, Ruby Green Beane, and brother, Herbert Ray Green. Surviving are her sister, Lillian Cecil Owens of Asheboro, Betty Garren of Asheboro; brother, James A. Green of Asheboro; hundreds of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; and her fur baby of 20 years, "Blackie The Cat". The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home. While Thelma loved flowers, she was allergic to them.
