Ted Swaney

William Ted Swaney, 78, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Hoover's Grove Wesleyan Church with Rev. Alvin Wooters and Rev. James Hulin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born May 31, 1939 in Randolph County, Mr. Swaney was the son of the late Henry and Sarah Swaney. He was a member of Hoover's Grove Wesleyan Church. Mr. Swaney enjoyed playing music, especially the auto harp, going to the beach, fishing and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dock, Jack, Charles and Arthur Swaney; and one sister, Frances Luther. Mr. Swaney is survived by his wife, Louise B. Swaney of the home; son, William Steve Swaney of the home; sisters, Gladys Hinshaw and husband, Paul, Bobbie Tysinger and husband, Kenneth, Doris Gordon and husband, Jaffie, all of Asheboro; brother, Donald Swaney and wife, Bonnie of Asheboro; several nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, Rocky. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home.
