Sybil Edgerton Penkava

Mrs. Sybil Edgerton Penkava, 94, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Randolph County, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital Matthews. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home with Bob League officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Holly Spring Friends Meeting Cemetery. A native of Columbiana County, OH, Mrs. Penkava was born May 29, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Horace Joseph Edgerton and Anna Viola Cameron Edgerton. She retired from Avon after 43 years and was a member of the Living Church of God of Charlotte. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Louis Penkava, Jr.; brothers, Raymond Edgerton, Virgil Edgerton; sisters, Lucille Cheyney, Melva Edgerton. Mrs. Penkava is survived by daughter, Jeanne Penkava Harp, of Charlotte, NC; sons, David Louis Penkava, of Asheboro, NC, Ronald Lee Penkava, of St. Simons Island, GA, Larry Dean Penkava, of Asheboro, NC, Robert Francis Penkava, of Charlotte, NC; sister, Bertha Mildred Allen, of Ramseur, NC; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Ridge funeral Home.
