Swannie Hammonds

Swannie Frances Lucas Hammonds, 93, of Asheboro, died Monday, August 29, 2016 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Thurman Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting Cemetery in Trinity. Born August 14, 1923 in Moore County. She was retired from Union Carbide after 37 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Cleveland Hammonds. Mrs. Hammonds is survived by her daughter, Kay Hammonds Luther of Asheboro; granddaughters, Sharon Luther Greer and husband, Kenny of Asheboro, Deborah Luther Hurley of Charlotte; and great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hurley, Drew Hurley, Cody Greer and Courtney Greer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 5194 New Hope Church Rd., Asheboro.
