Mr. Larry Steven Nothstein, 64, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, December 23, 2011, at his residence. A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home with Charles T. Reeder officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Grady County, OK, Mr. Nothstein was born December 21, 1947. He was the son of Milton Nothstein and the late Edna Louise Jones Nothstein. Prior to retirement, he drove a truck for over 20 years. Mr. Nothstein served in the US Army during Vietnam, he was very patriotic, and had tremendous respect for all veterans. Before his illness, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved to sing karaoke. Mr. Nothstein was an avid wrestling fan and he loved to travel, especially to the coastal beaches. The light of his life was his granddaughter, Maddie, and he enjoyed time spent with her. Mr. Nothstein, in addition to his father, is survived by his wife, Carol Motel Nothstein, of the home; daughters, Michelle Nothstein, Faith Ann Vercuskey, Ann Marie Nothstein, all of PA; sons, Bobby Nothstein, of Berwick, PA, Eric Nothstein, Joshua Nothstein, both of Tulare, CA; step-daughters, Karen Motel, of Hazleton, PA, Diane Motel,, of Jim Thorpe, PA, Laura Motel, of Sugarloaf, PA,; sisters, Janell Kolb, of Weisport, PA, Patsy Tashler, of Hazleton, PA, Terry Nothstein, of Visalia, CA,; grandchildren, Damon Nothstein, of Idaho, Bryson Nothstein, Ethan Nothstein, both of Tulare, CA, Madeline Demansky, of Jim Thorpe, PA, 6 nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 45, 419 Lanier Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27203.
