Stephen Andrew Stowe, 53, of Asheboro, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 at his home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Mt. Tabor Community Church, with Pastor Dan Downing officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Stephen was born on July 22, 1969 in Davidson County. He started working at age 15 doing roofing work. When he reached the age of 16, he was given a job by Charles Baker at High Point Chair. He worked at Lyle's Chevrolet, Woodmark Originals, Thomasville Furniture, Piedmont Carving, Joe Moore Construction, Carolina Seating, Lexington Furniture, Salem Coatings, Pro Equipment Trailers, Hillsville Lumber Co. and on August 1, 2004, he became the Pastor of Mt. Tabor Community Church, Asheboro, NC.
Stephen had a love for fire fighting. He never had any desire to be a career firefighter but loved volunteering. He began as a Jr. Firefighter at Fair Grove volunteer fire department. At age 18 he moved his membership as a senior firefighter to Pilot fire department. Later after getting married he moved his membership to Holly Grove volunteer fire department. On February 08, 2011 he joined East Side Fire Department.
Stephen found that love or passion that fulfilled his life completely when he started pastoring Mt. Tabor Community Church. This was his first and only Pastorate that began August 1, 2004, on a Sunday Morning. The church family voted 100% for Stephen to come and be their pastor and never voted again. Stephen stated many times that the love and compassion of the Mt. Tabor Community Church family was what gave him the undying determination to do whatever it took to stay true to Almighty God and make it to Heaven whatever the cost.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father Benjamin Grant Stowe; and his brother, Terry Stowe.
He is survived by his daughters, Mallorie Faith James, Erikka Stowe Emmons and husband Jonathan Emmons; son, Garth Sheldon Stowe; mother, Jo Ann Scarlette Stowe; and grandchildren, Jadon, Levi, and Savannah.
The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2022.
