Stephen Kinsley Routh, 78, of Franklinville, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born December 24, 1947, in Randolph Co., NC, Mr. Routh was the son of the late L.K. Routh, Jr., and Bobbie Jean Johnson. He had worked for his father-in-law at Asheboro Coach for several years. Mr. Routh was a good man who enjoyed bird and squirrel hunting, watching birds, especially hummingbirds, and loved his dogs. But his favorite pastime was baseball. He was an avid fan. He was an outstanding player in his youth, good enough to be part of the 1966 NC State Championship American Legion Post 45 team. After the American Legion team he played at Guilford College for two years. Later he enjoyed watching baseball, being a lifelong fan the NY Yankees and Atlanta Braves. While baseball was his favorite, Mr. Routh was also a football fan, always watching the Washington Redskins.
Mr. Routh loved his country and proudly served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam war. He was very grateful to be able to see the 250th Anniversary of the United States.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Routh was preceded in death by his cousin, Adrian Troy.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Routh; sons, Derek Kinsley Routh, Benjamin Kyle Routh; grandchildren, Addisyn Lily Routh, Samuel Thomas Routh; cousins, Thomas John "Johnny" Fogleman (Deborah), Greg Troy (Sharon), Tommy Routh (Patti); and special friends, Larry Tisch and Tim Smith.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
