Mr. Stephen Hardy Hopkins, 58, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at his residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, June 18, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Dale Banten and Raymond Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Hopkins was born September 4, 1953. He was the son of the late Hardy Everett Hopkins and Joanna Moore Hopkins. Steve has been a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather and to most, a friend. He loved NASCAR racing and collected Hot Wheels cars, about 5,000 to be exact. He loved taking the family to the beach and loved to go out and eat. He loved to collect coins, which he fixed for his grandchildren. His life's dream was to have his 1970 Cutlass Supreme restored but it was not meant to be. Steve was a special man. He loved people and took time to really listen to them and tried to help if he could. Steve worked for Kayser Roth for 39 years and Randolph Hospital for the last 32 of these years. He was well thought of and will be missed dearly. Mr. Hopkins is survived by his wife, of 40 years, Pamela Sue Hopkins; sons, Stephen Hopkins, and wife, Tina, of Climax, NC, and Brian Hopkins, and wife, Amie, of Burlington, NC; sisters, Krista Tate, and husband Alfred, of Asheboro, NC, Kathy Sellers, and husband Raymond, of Lugoff, SC; brother, Phillip Hopkins, and wife, Teressa, of Ramseur, NC; grandchildren, David Caudle, Dallas Caudle, Karli Hopkins, Madilyn Hopkins, and Colby Hopkins. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home.
