Shirley G. Goodwin

Mrs. Shirley Ann Gorrell Goodwin, 67, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, October 29, 2012, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Guilford County, NC, Mrs. Goodwin was born January 24, 1945. She was the daughter of the late William Lester Gorrell and Surrethor Mae Oliver Gorrell. She was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was very proud to be called "GG" by her great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Gorrell. Mrs. Goodwin is survived by her husband, Frank Goodwin, of the home; daughters, Lori Ann Long and husband, Jimmy, of Hurdle Mills, NC, Cheryl Baum and husband, Ricky, Lynn Bryant, all of Asheboro, NC; brothers, Edgar Gorrell and wife, Wanda, of Sneads Ferry, NC, William "Bill" Gorrell and wife, Marge, of Meadows of Dan, VA; sister, May Weiss, of Randleman, NC; grandchildren, Amanda Brady and husband, Adam, of Bennett, NC, April Hodges and husband, Tim, of Nathalie, VA, Katie Smith and husband, Kevin, of Killeen, TX, Nathan McDuffie and wife, Mariel, of Roxboro, NC, Bre Baum, of Asheboro, Jameson Long, Jeremy Long both of Roxboro; great grandchildren, Maddie Miller, Tristan Smith, Bryson Hodges, Aidan Hodges, Corvin Smith, Izzy McDuffie, Nate McDuffie, Cayden and Camden Brady; and her lap companion, "Misty Blue"�. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
