Shirley Ford

August 1, 1960 — January 27, 2018

Shirley Ann Richardson Ford, 57, passed away on 27 January, 2018, at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, NC after a valiant six year battle with cancer. Shirley was born August 1, 1960, the daughter of the late Harris and Elizabeth "Betty" Richardson. She was a graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School in 1978 and a United States Air Force veteran. Shirley later went on to attend Randolph Community College, where she mastered pottery techniques and design. From there, she found her joy of being a Seagrove Potter and proprietor of Ford Pottery. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A strong, yet beautiful soul; she was warm and kindhearted, as she did not know a stranger, making friends with practically every person she met. That fact was validated by all the outpouring of love, support and prayers of all who had the fortune of knowing her. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her brother, Harold L. Richardson Sr. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, John D. Ford of Seagrove, NC; her daughter and son-in-law Melanie and Matthew Clark currently of San Antonio, TX; Daughter and son-in-law Julia and Neill Blackmon of Seagrove, NC; Son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Jasmine Ford currently of Upper Marlboro, MD. Shirley was also a proud and loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Ava Aylward, Kimber Clark, Chloe Clark, Nathan Blackmon, Brent Blackmon, Ariana Ford, and Amiyah Ford. Per Shirley's wishes, no formal service will be held, with a private "Celebration of Life" ceremony being scheduled at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Randolph Hospice House, https://www.hospiceofrandolph.org/give/ Or by mail, Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
