Mr. Sherman Gene Gallimore, 81, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, February 17, 2014. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 7594 Jackson Creek Road, Denton, NC, with Pastor Eddie Hill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Davidson County, NC, Mr. Gallimore was born January 11, 1933. He was the son of the late William C. Gallimore and Luda Pennell Gallimore. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. After his tour of duty he returned home to pursue a career in sales. Sherman sold machines for textile industries. He has a passion for horses. He was also known for his love of talking and joking with his friends at the morning coffee gathering. In addition to his parents, Sherman was preceded in death by brothers, Jay, Ned, Raymond and Billy Gallimore. Mr. Gallimore is survived by son, Jeff Gallimore, of Beckley, WV; daughter, Jenniffer Sullivan and husband, David, of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Faye Gallimore; of Thomasville, NC, Betty Davis, of Cary, NC, Joyce Gallimore, of Denton, NC, Glenda Scott, of Greensboro, NC; and grandson, Christopher Sullivan. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church family life center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 7594 Jackson Creek Road, Denton, NC 27239; or to the Randolph County Honor Guard, PO Box 1672, Asheboro, NC 27204.
