Sarah Matthews Luther

Mrs. Sarah Ann Matthews Luther, 69, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, February 10, 2011, at the Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, February 14, 2011, at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with the Rev. Garland Hall, the Rev. Tim Fonner, and J. Raiford Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Luther was born November 1, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Elbert Brady Matthews, Sr. and Thelma Bennett Matthews. She was a retired CNA with Randolph Hospital and later worked for the Randolph Co. Senior Adult Center. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. She enjoyed basket weaving, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sampson "Samp" Luther, sister, Peggy Elaine Matthews and brother, Elbert B. Matthews, Jr. Mrs. Luther is survived by son, Eric Luther and wife, Katana, of Asheboro, and her beloved cats, Spice and Dynamite. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Sunday, February 13, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
