Sam Boyd

Mr. Guy Samuel "Sam" Boyd, 79, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at his residence. A graveside service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Friday, December 6, 2013, at Parsons Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lonnie Poole officiating. A native of Rockingham County, NC, Mr. Boyd was born September 18, 1934. He was the son of the late Forest Jay Boyd and Mary Catherine Cook Boyd. He worked for Tank and Tummy for 21 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Boyd. Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Mildred Boyd, of the home; daughter, Candace Johnson, of Graham, NC; step-sons, Charles Raeford Simmons, of Asheboro, NC, Roger Allen Simmons, of Ramseur, NC, Terry Lee Simmons, of the home, Daniel Neal Simmons, of Randleman, NC; grandchildren, Brian Simmons, Keith Simmons, Elizabeth Simmons, Felicia Linthicum, Matthew Simmons, Ashley Simmons, Christopher Johnson, Chad Johnson; and great grandson, Easton Johnson. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm Friday, December 6, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
