Ruth Anne Shaw, 71, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2017, at Randolph Memorial Park with Mr. Charles Reeder officiating. Ruth Anne Shaw was born December 12, 1945, the daughter of the late Ralph Onie and Edith Ruth Trogdon Shaw. She graduated from Asheboro High School in 1964. In 1967 she graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.S. degree in library science. Ms. Shaw taught in public schools for a number of years. She loved to fish, read, garden and do genealogy. Ms. Shaw was a charter member of of the Randolph County Genealogical Journal. She was a member of the Colonel Andrew Balfour Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 40 years and she was also a member of Robert E. Lee Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Ms. Shaw was a member of the North Carolina Scottish Heritage Society and she enjoyed attending Scottish Highland Games with her brother, Harvey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey Ralph Shaw and Roger Michael Shaw. Survivors include her aunt, Lucille Richardson; niece, Ashley Morgan Shaw; great nephew, Alexander Michael Shaw-Brooks; and special friends, Sue Whatley and Dwayne and Carol Brooks. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home.
