Ruth Loflin

January 8, 1928 — May 13, 2016

Ruth Staley Garner Loflin, 88, of Asheboro, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 into the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 13, 2016. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2016, at Foster Street Wesleyan Church, Asheboro, with Rev. Charles Moses, Rev. Danny Leroy and Rev. Bob Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. She was born January 8,1928, to the late Rev. A. V. Staley and the late Lela Craven Staley. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Worth Staley, June Staley, Junior Staley and Victor Staley. Ruth previously worked at B. B. Walker Shoe Company as a supervisor and retired from Black and Decker. She was married to Edward G. Garner on August 10, 1946, who predeceased her on June 8, 1960. She married Leonard Loflin on March 28, 1964, who predeceased her on July 27, 2014, after 50 years of marriage. Her greatest story was telling of her salvation and how she was saved at the age of 15. She was a faithful follower of Jesus and is now rejoicing in Heaven with her Savior and loved ones. She was a member of Foster Street Wesleyan Church and attended the very first service when the church was started. Reading her Bible and working in her flowers gave her great comfort and joy. Ruth was so proud to have been able to renew her driver's license in December before her 88th birthday. She was able to live independently until March 20, 2016, when her health began to decline. We will all miss her loving and caring spirit and especially all the prayers that she daily prayed for each and every one of us. Her desire was for all to know and accept her Lord and Savior and to meet her in Heaven. She loved her family and church and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Nancy Garner Stover and husband, Robert, of Asheboro; step daughter, Becky Loflin of Asheboro; step son, Jerry Loflin, of Greensboro; grandchildren, Sherri Stover (Ralph), of Indian Trail, NC, Rob Stover (Valerie), of Asheboro; and her amazing great-grandchildren, Haley Laughlin, Landon DeFelice, and Lincon Stover, who dearly loved their Mamaw. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Asheboro, and other times at the home of her daughter. Memorials may be made to Foster Street Wesleyan Church, Building Fund, 214 Foster Street, Asheboro, NC 27205 The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff of North Pointe Assisted Living and Hospice of Randolph for their love and compassionate care.
