Ida Ruth Joyce Flynt, 84, of Kannapolis, formerly of Asheboro, died Friday, February 20, 2015 at Best of Care Assisted Living in Kannapolis. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015, at Balfour Baptist Church in Asheboro with Rev. Kenneth Reaves officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison. Born in Stokes County, NC, on April 23, 1930, Mrs. Flynt was one of seventeen children of the late Jesse F. Joyce and Nannie Via Joyce. She graduated from Pine Hall High School and was a homemaker. Mrs. Flynt was an active member of Balfour Baptist Church for over 30 years and loved her church family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flynt was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Melvin Flynt; sisters, Mildred Dodson, Louise Howell, Thelma Belton, Catherine Jessup, Barbara Hand; and brothers, Arthur, Tom, Joe, Jesse, Charles and Leonard Joyce. Surviving are daughters, Tonia Flynt Russell and husband, Steve, of Kannapolis, Amy Flynt Bower and husband, Gary, of Asheboro; sisters, Shirley Mabe, of Madison, Nancy Branch, of Valdosta, GA, Brenda Wall and husband, Wayne, and Arlene Joyce, all of Madison; brother, Harold Lee Joyce, of Madison; and grandchildren, Taylor Scott Coble, Elizabeth Ruth Russell, Joseph Flynt Russell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. The family would like to thank the staff at Best of Care in Kannapolis for their love and support over the past six years.
