Margaret “Ruth” Wright Cox, 90, of Asheboro, passed away on May 9, 2021 at the Randolph Hospice House. She joins her husband of 71 years, James Ray Cox, who passed away in October 2020. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by the service at 3:30 p.m.. Ruth was born in Staley, NC, to William Henry Wright, Sr., and Dessie Gunter Wright on October 5, 1930. Ruth was a hardworking woman who put her family first. She loved to sew and was known for her persimmon pudding, coconut cakes and her sweet smile. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Kaye (Joe) Swaim of Reidsville, Phyllis (David) Rogers of Statesville, and Greta Gail (Doug) McDowell of Leland. Also surviving are grandchildren, Heath Swaim, Julie (Jeremy) Wagoner, Shelley Rogers (Vincent Toups), Ashley (Alex) Jimenez, and Carly (Tony) Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Mya, Ryder, Kason, Camila, James, Felix, and Zoey; her sisters Eva (Ray) Beal and Treva (Clyde) Davis; and siblings-in-law, Rachel Davis, Irene Surratt, Wayne (Delores) Cox, and Margaret Ester. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her siblings, Buford Wright, Clarence Wright, Edward Wright, Eunice Wright Phillippie, and Henry Wright, Jr. Memorials can be made to Randolph Hospice House, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
