Russell Mitchell Culler, also known as "Doc" or "Mitch', 100, of Asheboro, went home to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 18, 2025, (9 days short of his 101st birthday) at Alpine Health and Rehabilitation in Asheboro.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at West Asheboro Church of God, Asheboro, where he was a member, with Rev. Matt Gunter and Rev. Travis Cooke officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
He was born on April 27, 1924, in Mt. Airy, NC, to the late Roby Wesley Alexander Culler and Lucy LeAnn Hayzee Culler. In his early career, Mr. Culler worked in textiles in Mt. Airy. After moving to Asheboro in 1960, he worked at Mid-State Paper Box Company and retired as a supervisor.
He dearly loved his family and enjoyed telling stories of his "growing up years" in Mt. Airy. One of his most notable friendly acquaintances while growing up in Mt. Airy was Andy Griffith.
In addition to his parents Mitch was preceded in death by his daughters, Karen and Sharon Culler; sisters, Mary Rauscher, Ellen Heath, Opal Butcher, and brother, Frank Culler.
He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn Lee Culler; daughter, Debbie Reeder (Cecil); grandsons, Matthew Reeder (Tracey), Adam Reeder (Catherine); great granddaughters, Allison "Alli" Reeder, Sarah Reeder; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. at West Asheboro Church of God, prior to the funeral service.
