Ruby Childress Hopkins

Ruby Irene Childress Hopkins, 79, of Asheboro, died Thursday, December 31, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tres Ward and Rev. Ed Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born in Alamance County, NC on February 24, 1936, Mrs. Hopkins was the daughter of the late Harry and Dessie York Childress. She was a member of Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hopkins was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Hopkins, brother, Brodie Childress, stepson, Steve Hopkins and grandson, Jeremy Davis. Surviving are her daughters, Karen Faulkner and husband, Eddie, Kathy Cavin and Alvin Toomes, Lisa Davis and husband, Bud, all of Asheboro, Lori Hopkins, of the home; stepdaughters, Kathy Sellers and family, Krista Tate and family; stepson, Phillip Hopkins and family; brother, Larry Childress, of Saxapahaw; grandchildren, Chris Faulkner and wife, Elsa, Tabitha Cochran and husband, Marc, Angie Ritter and husband, Worthy; great-grandchildren, Erin, Nicholas and Caleb Cochran, Samuel, Elizabeth and Emily Ritter. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times at the home.
