Ruby Jewell McNeill Hoover, 97, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Terra Bella in Asheboro.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 18, 2023, at Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Jody Harrison and Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
A native of Randolph Co., Mrs. Hoover was born November 13, 1925, the daughter of the late James Astor and Dessie Saunders McNeill. She was retired from Sew Special Hosiery. She took care of her great nephews as children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Ruby was a dedicated lifelong Christian and worked with children in Sunday School classes throughout the years. Her passion was spreading God's love to everyone she met.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hoover was preceded in death by her husband Robert Charles Hoover, and sister Mildred McNeill Boggs.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebekah "Becky" Barnes (Cecil) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Margie Strider of Asheboro, Joy Hoover of Asheboro; sisters, Dorothy Upton of Seagrove, Clarice Hurley of Asheboro, Norma Jean Smith of Asheboro; brothers, James A. "Buddy" McNeill, Jr., (Shirley) of Asheboro, Richard McNeill (Joretta) of Asheboro; granddaughter, Brigette Welton (Paul) of Hickory; great grandsons, Nicholas Welton of Hilton Head, SC, Benjamin Welton of Hickory, NC; several nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday, at Bethel Baptist Church, prior to the service.
