Roy Walden

Roy Raybon Walden, 75, of Asheboro, died Sunday, August 28, 2016 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Born March 24, 1942 in Treutlen County, GA, Mr. Walden was the son of the late Luther and Mary Joiner Walden. He was retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers and the NCDOT. His hobbies included welding, Harley Davidson motorcycles and computers. Mr. Walden is survived by his wife, Pat Walden of the home; son, Wallace Walden and wife, Lynn of Angier; daughters, Wendy Walden and Donna Sykes, both of Asheboro; brothers, Phillip Walden and wife, Lynda of Valdosta, GA, Gary Walden and wife, Delores, Daryl Walden and wife, Harriet, and Larry Walden, all of Soperton, GA; grandsons, Nathaniel Walden and wife, Ashley, Jeff Murdaugh; and great-granddaughter, Nataleigh Walden. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
