Roy Alvin Davis

Mr. Roy Alvin Davis, 67, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, May 30, 2011, at East Side Baptist Church with Pastor Thurman Williams and Pastor Paul Panella officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Davis was born February 13, 1944. He was the son of the late John Bidge Davis and Lillie Odelia Smith Davis. He was retired from Eveready Battery. He was a member of The Love of God Ministries, where he was the assistant treasurer. Mr. Davis also attended a community Bible study at First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Lucas and his brothers, John Davis, Jr., Stephen Davis, Orville Davis, Arthur Davis, Wilbur Davis and Jack Davis. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Margaret Davis, of the home; daughter, Tina Byrd, of Asheboro; son, Danny Davis and wife, Kim, of Asheboro; sister, Joyce Carol Reedy and husband, Bruce, of Auburn, PA; brother, Glenn Davis and wife, Jean, of Seagrove; grandchildren, Haven Davis, Hillary Pritchard, Taylor Byrd, Jacob Davis, and Chase Byrd. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Ashley Maynard Medical Expense Fund, c/o RBC, 115 South Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203. Ashley is fighting Leukemia and she is the daughter of Tina Maynard who works at America's Roadhouse.
