Rona Bunting

Mae Rona Chaney Bunting, 88, of Asheboro, died Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the home of her son. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Cliff VanVliet officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Born on August 27, 1930, in Stokes County, NC, Mrs. Bunting was the daughter of the late Jasper Chaney and Ola Mae Snider Chaney. She retired from Mid State Paper Box Company after 45 years of service. She was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bunting was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Allen "Pete" Bunting, Jr.; grandson, Rodney Bunting; sisters, Ruth Foster, Betty Packer; and brother, T. J. Chaney. Surviving are her son, Joey M. Bunting and wife, Elaine, of Asheboro; brothers, Paul Chaney and wife, Marie, of Asheboro, Johnny Chaney and wife, Maxine, of Asheboro; and granddaughter, JoAnn Bunting, of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Joey and Elaine Bunting.
