Vincent Roger Gulickson, a resident of Asheboro, NC, died unexpectedly on June 26, 2016 at the age of 57. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home. Roger was born in Munich, Germany on December 11th, 1958 to Victor and Virginia Gulickson. He spent his childhood in Anderson, IN and after graduation from Madison Heights attended Purdue University in Lafayette, IN where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. After leaving college he opened his own Dominos pizza in the Boston suburbs, eventually deciding that the world outside was more fulfilling to him. Roger was a devoted friend and avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed canoeing, beach camping, hiking and backpacking in the woods and treated his dogs with the love most people reserve for family. He could be seen throughout the year paddling his canoe on local lakes with Joanie and their three dogs along for the adventure. His love of photography led him to places most of us will only see through his lenses. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all those who knew him. Roger is survived by his father, Victor R. Gulickson of Sacramento, CA; his brother, and sister in law, Vance and Denise Gulickson of McKinney, TX, his nephew Jeremy Gulickson of New York, NY, his niece Kylie Gulickson of Dallas, TX and his partner in this adventure we call life, Asheboro's own Joanie Spivey. His mother, Virginia Gulickson, his grandmothers, Miriam Gallatin and Grace Sarber, and his grandfathers, Victor H. Gulickson and Roe Sarber, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro, NC on Thursday, June 30th from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and other times at the home. Condolences may be made online at www.ridgefuneralhome.com.
