Roberta "Chee Chee" Brown

Roberta "Chee Chee" Hughes Brown, 76, of Asheboro, died Friday, June 19, 2020 at her home. Born in Cambridge, NY, of June 25, 1943, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Robert John and Mary Louise Hughes. Chee Chee was baptized on June 8, 1947 at the United Church in West Pawlet, Vermont and continued to serve the Lord with a life committed to sharing and walking in Christ every single day. She was married for nearly fifty eight years to love of her life, Phil. They raised four children and loved her nine grandchildren tremendously. For more than thirty years, Chee Chee taught at Balfour Elementary and cared and loved for more than a thousand students. She served First Presbyterian Church as an Elder and devoted member since 1972. During her retirement years, she was a volunteer at the Senior Center tax aide office for more than ten years. She actively sought out those who needed prayers and friendship, and that support often came in the form of a plate of cookies and a meal. Chee Chee loved to travel and in recent years she and Phil traveled with friends to Nova Scotia, Poland, England, Italy, Scotland and Germany. She was always up for a round of golf or a big family gathering and time spent with her grandchildren was the greatest gift of all. Chee Chee is survived by her husband, Philip Brown; daughter, Kim Davis and husband Christopher; sons, Randy Brown and wife Rhonda, Scott Brown and wife Dawn, Rob Brown and wife Shae; sister, Carol White; brother, John Hughes; and nine grandchildren, Philip, Matthew, Ashley, Hannah, Lauren, Mitchell, Sarah, Aidan, and Max. Due to restrictions on group gatherings, a private memorial service will be held Thursday, June 25, 2020, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Muse officiating.
