Robert Sechrest

Robert Lee Sechrest, 83, of Asheboro, died Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Friendship Baptist Church, 2235 Spero Road, Randleman, where he was a member, with Pastor Landon Flinchum and Pastor Ralph Pugh officiating. Entombment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Mr. Sechrest was born on March 4, 1943, in Guilford County, the son of the late Robert V. Sechrest and Sudie Lewis Sechrest. Mr. Sechrest honorably served in the United States Army. He was a kind-hearted, fun-loving man who had a special way of making people laugh and bringing smiles to those around him. Mr. Sechrest deeply loved the Lord and was devoted to his church and church family. He earned his Doctor of Divinity and faithfully shared his love and faith with others. With a good heart, Mr. Sechrest preached the Word of God on the streets of South Carolina. After working for Marsh Furniture, Mr. Sechrest took great pride in owning Sechrest Catering after being doubted by others.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sechrest was preceded in death by his son Mark W. Sechrest on November 3, 2011.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sechrest of the home; daughter, Angela York of Alabama; and step-son, Michael D. Stout of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, at the church prior to the service.
