Robert "Bob" Harrison Nichols, 92, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Randolph Health in Asheboro.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lois Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by The Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Nichols was born on December 20, 1931, in Hillsdale, MI, the son of the late Allen Leroy Nichols and Bertha Magnus Nichols. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and he attended Covenant Christian Church. Mr. Nichols honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was a member of "The Chosin Few" and a member of American Legion and AMVETS. He enjoyed golfing and playing pool. He could always be found doing projects at home and anywhere else that needed fixing. Mr. Nichols never met a stranger and enjoyed getting coffee with his friends at Joe Muggs in Books-A-Million.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his son, John Harrison Nichols.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Nichols of the home; daughter, Teresa Jean Betenbaugh (Timothy) of Asheboro; sons, Tim Nichols (Nancy) of Randleman, Michael Leroy Nichols of Asheboro; brother, Allen Nichols (Janet) of TX; sisters, Lawine Pinkard (Tom), Alena Funsch, Lois Davis all of Texas; sisters-in-law, Adrana West and Cheryl Miller; grandchildren, Joshua Nichols (Angenette), Daniel Bellus; Aaron Nichols (Stephanie), Corey Nichols (Meghan); six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home.
