Robert Franklin Luther

Robert "Bobby" Franklin Luther, 90, of Seagrove, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at his home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Why Not Wesleyan Church, 1402 NC Highway 705 East, Seagrove, with Rev. Darrell Rabon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Robert was born on September 16, 1935, in Montgomery County, the son of the late Wiley Raymond Luther and Rosa Freeman Luther. He attended Farmer School and grew up in the Eleazer community. Robert was the proud owner and operator of Luther Floor Sanding from 1967 to 2003. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger Luther, George Luther and his wife Dot; sister, Shelby Morris and husband Claude; sister-in-law, Betty Miller; and brother-in-law, Rayborn Hall.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Allen Luther, daughters, Sherry L. Allen, Dana L. Shetzler and husband Jim, Andrea L. Overfield and husband Keith; grandchildren, Claudia Allen, Janie Allen, Jimmy Shetzler, Lily Shetzler, Jack Shetzler, Alta Overfield, Luke Overfield, Cora Overfield; sister, Allene Luther Hall; sisters-in-law, Alice Luther, Ann A. Moffitt and husband Diffie; brothers-in-law, Tim Allen and wife Pam, Gary Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2026, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
